Another addition to the Enroth collection today! And there is some mystery attached to this one. A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon this older thread , posted by another board member, discussing his multi-case break of 2011-2012 Donruss Elite Hockey. This collector was going for a few of the sets, and decided to break a lot of the product in order to obtain the cards he wanted.
After his break was over, he wrote about how he pulled these cards that to the untrained eye looked fairly normal, but had a distinct difference. They had a “baseball back”.
Curios, I looked at the list he provided of these mysterious baseball backs he pulled from his breaks:

After noticing he pulled an Enroth version, I quickly messaged him and we were able to work out a deal for this card. If any player collectors see there PC player in the list above, please contact me, as I can give you the site name and username of this collector so you can reach out to them to try and make a deal for your a baseball back for your own collections.
After a receiving the card I did a quick Google search and discovered this back was from the 2012 Topps Gypsy Queen Game-Used Relic cards, and the back used on the back of the Enroth base was of Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jered Weaver.

Whether these were unannounced misprint, error card, or secret parallel, I guess I’ll never know. Although an unannounced Topps parallel wouldn’t surprise me, because Topps baseball products are known for some super weird (And legitimate) error parallel cards that can get really confusing at times. I’m not a baseball collector, but those kinds of parallels would probably drive me crazy.

Yeah, some of those variations are crazy. Wouldn’t surprise me if collectors pulled them and didn’t even realize it.
Seeing as how many of these cards from the set were printed with these Topps ‘baseball backs’, it will be added to the list in my collection because I think it’s pretty neat. I was glad to have been able to add it to my growing collection, and it also comes with a cool little story to tell.
