A Glovely Card For The Collection!

Mackenzie Blackwood is pictured wearing Jhonas Enroth CCM Premier glove on this 2020-21 Upper Deck Dazzlers Orange parallel Insert card.There’s no denying that the 2020-2021 Upper Deck Series 1 Dazzers Inserts were some of the best original inserts to come out of any product in a long while. Coming into this week, I had two players from the set already and I just knew I had to pickup a third….. enter Mackenzie Blackwood.

I think Blackwood is a very talented young goaltender in the NHL who will guard the New Jersey crease for many more seasons to come, but that is not why I picked up this card.

I picked it up because of the glove he’s pictured wearing. A glove made for former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender, Jhonas Enroth.

During the 2019-2020 season, Blackwood needed a new glove. After trying out one of Enroth’s Pro Stock (not used by him, just made for him with his specs) CCM Premier Pro gloves from his Maple Leafs days, he decided to stick with it. While NHL players have all of the top gear resources out there, making every beer-league athlete insanely jealous, some goalies are very particular about the feel of a glove, which is why Blackwood decided to roll with an earlier CCM 580 model that he had become familiar with, instead of getting a brand new CCM glove.

New Jersey Devils’ Mackenzie Blackwood was using one of Jhonas Enroth’s CCM Premier pro stock gloves during part of the 2019-20 season.While maybe not the craziest of cards in the world, this does make for a nice “addition” to my Jhonas Enroth card collection. There have been a few more cards of Blackwood to feature him wearing Enroth’s glove, I think this is more like a one-and-done thing for my collection, but who knows.
