My Pickups from the 2023 Sports Card & Memorabilia Fall Expo in Toronto

The Fall 2023 Expo was a lot of fun. I am always happy to browse the many different booths and see what I can find.

While I didn’t pickup a whole lot of cards, I was definitely happy with what I came away with from the 2 days I was there. Let me know which is your favourite!

The first pickup of the show was my best in my opinion. I picked up this sweet Belfour auto patch card /25. I have always wanted a nice card from his brief stint in Florida, and I feel like this accomplished that.

The next few cards here were just small additions to the collection. The Price card looked awesome, and seeing him briefly at the show was a cool experience, as he was one of the higher profile athletes doing a signing session over the weekend. The two Enroth Young Guns were from my buddy Andy, who gave them to me after another dealer threw them in with a purchase of his. Cool!!

Day 1 was all about the Belfour collection, apparently. I was able to find this sweet patch card of Eddie The Eagle /25 from 2010-11 Dominion. I really enjoyed that product release, and it included excellent set designs like the card below. A very easy snag for the PC with an afforadable price tag.

2010-11 Panini Dominion Ed Belfour Patches /25To wrap up day 1 of the show, I stopped by the Real Sports booth again this year to see what I can find. I have been fortunate enough to find some cool things over the years, and this time was no different.

You’re looking at a locker room prepared Toronto Maple Leafs / Toronto Arenas 2022 Heritage Classic goalie cut (58G) jersey. I had wanted a nice NHL goalie cut jersey to use when I play for a while now, so this fit the bill perfectly. I have since used the jersey on the ice and it fits like a dream. I am also a fan of the old school style they went with for these Heritage Classic sweaters. Simple, but it does the job.

Apparently when the Leafs were designing this jersey, they originally wanted to have just the “T” on the jersey, but the NHL did not allow them to do that, so the Leafs got creative and used the same navy blue colour for the Arenas letters to blend them into the jersey itself, creating the lone “T” look they were going for to emulate the original Toronto Arenas jersey style from 1917.

Toronto Maple Leafs / Toronto Arenas 2022 Heritage Classic 58G Goalie Cut JerseyThis next item I found early on in day two. I was looking at a booth with a lot of autographed pucks, and noticed this Enroth Leafs puck in the front row. Score! Not many pucks were autographed during his short time in Toronto, so I was glad I was able to land one for the collection.

The last two pickups from the show was within the final hour, as I was able to find these two notaglic pickups for a few bucks.  The Mason Future Watch /999 was a card I wanted way back in 2008-2009, but his rookies cards were too expensive back then. Better late than never! The Giggy patch auto is another cool card the dealer through in. Can’t argue with a cool Mighty Ducks patch!

This card was worth a lot back in the day. Remember how good his rookie year was?

Not much autograph left on this card….. but still awesome. Love the “old” Mighty Ducks patch cards. This final card for the collection was picked up at the Expo by someone on HobbyInsider forums, who then reached out to me about it after the show. I already had a copy, so he said he can send it my way free of charge. Thanks a bunch, Glenn!

I really enjoy everything about the design of this card, especially the gold versions with the added gold foil. To date, the 2009-10 O-Pee-Chee Premier Signings is probably my favourite autograph set of all-time.

2009-10 Upper Deck O-Pee-Chee Premier Signings Gold 5/15 – Jhonas EnrothAlthough I didn’t pickup a overwhelming batch of cards, I feel like this was another expo success. Can’t wait until the 2024 Spring Expo, especially with all the Bedard madness that will be going on once Series 2 is released. Another superstar in the making!

Happy Collecting,

Aaron
