Breaking New Ground with My 90th 1/1 – SHL Style

Happy Easter weekend, everyone! I hope everyone has a fun weekend with family & friends. He has risen!

Since the release of SHL Series 1 back in February, I have been diligently on the lookout for some fun rare cards to chase. More specifically, some of those new 1/1’s that I was glad to see on the checklist within the new product.

Two few weeks ago, I managed to snag this 1/1 Raven Blackbase parallel, marking the 90th Enroth 1/1 card in my collection. What a fun milestone to reach with this stunning card! A SHL card Facebook group was doing a live SHL Series 1 group break, and luckily the host managed to hit this card himself.

After being notified by a few helpful members on the live feed (thank you!) we made contact and got a deal done.

2025-26 SportZoo SHL Series 1 – Raven Black 1/1

When looking at all of the 1/1’s in my collection, I have to say that the simpler base or insert 1/1’s are some of my favourites cards out there. Sure, they may not be as flashy or jaw-dropping as some of those heavy-duty memorabilia pieces you see, but the simplicity of a “basic” 1/1 parallel I’ve always been a fan of.

I am sure if this is due to the fact that I grew up collecting in the 90’s? The 1/1’s back then were not only uber rare, you’d have to search far and wide to find someone who owned a 1/1. Even seeing a picture of 1/1 was like seeing a unicorn. Even though these 1/1 cards felt like they were the stuff of mystical urban legends, most didn’t contain those “wow factor” card attributes that we see today on most 1/1’s in the hobby today filled with crazy patches or modern visual technologies. Just the sheer number of them today blows that time period out of the water.

Regardless, this 1/1 does feature a nice sunbeam-like foil pattern on portions of the card that I really like. In true SportZoo fashion, their base parallels don’t feature too much visual effects, but they do a good job at standing apart from the rest. The bluish-black foil on the side of the card is a nice touch as well. I like it!

Here’s a look at the pattern foil technology on the card in this picture below. The scan doesn’t do it justice with how nice these cards look, in my opinion.

Cards always look better in person than a scan. And I think this card fits in my collection quite nicely.

Speaking of Enroth’s career, after the recent completion of his current contract through the 2025-26 season, it was announced last week that Enroth and Örebro HK will be mutually parting ways after Enroth’s consecutive 6-year run with the team.

While bittersweet, his time with the team will be remembered by many. I even had the chance to meet Jhonas in Örebro back in 2022 while on vacation, which was a fun memory for sure. I also came to realize that the city of Örebrois filled with many passionate hockey fans that appreciate their team through thick and thin – which was great to see.
