The card: Jhonas Enroth 2017-18 KHL Goaltenders Printing Plate Yellow 1/1 – Released in 2018-19 SeReal KHL Exclusive Collection Part 2.
After seeing the 2nd installment of the KHL Exclusive Collection (appropriately named “Part 2”) release not too long ago, I was trying to minimize my excitement knowing that there were 4 Enroth 1/1 printing plates released in this product, but snagging any of them would prove to be quite the task.
Was I up for the challenge?
Once the product was finally released, I noticed two of the printing plates (Cyan & Magenta) were pulled by the same collector in his case break. They were gone in a flash.
On one hand, while I was dissappointed, I knew what I was getting into when I kept chasing Enroth’s cards in the KHL. The compeition for these cards are really intense, almost borderline impossible to compete with depending on which group of collectors are involved. So I guess the chase will have to continue.
Fastforward to a few days later, and I notice one of the printing plates end up on eBay from a well known collector/breaker breaker overseas. This user has a lot of unique KHL for sale and has been a big help in adding to my Enroth collection. Without eBay members like these who make a lot of European cards availible to us North American collectors, I’m not sure what the KHL section of my Enroth collection would look like today.
Anyways, let the bidding war begin… A few moments before the auction ended, it spiked up quite a bit but I still managed to win it. Considering the competition for these elusive KHL cards, I think the price was fair. I’m just glad I can finally add a KHL 1/1 to my collection. Another feather in the cap of this collection, that’s for sure.
Ontop of this being my 48th 1/1 stamped card, this also marks my 400th unique card (and 472nd card in total) in my Enroth collection. Wow, what a milestone!
