An impressive 1/1 Panini Dominion Shield card resting on a Jonathan Quick Game-Used blocker.
Introduction
My name is Mitch and I’m from Los Angeles, CA. I started collecting sports cards as a kid in the early 90s. I stopped collecting for a good 10 years or so, when the whole industry kind of died off. I started back up around 2011. I was excited to see it make the comeback that it has! It’s fun to continue a hobby I had as a kid, now as an adult. I really enjoy the hunt for certain cards and the thrill of opening a case and seeing that case hit you’ve been waiting for.
What/Who Do You Collect?
The main player I focus on is Los Angeles starting Goaltender Jonathan Quick.
Why Did you Star Collecting Jonathan Quick?
I remember when the Kings first got Quick, called up from Manchester (AHL Affiliate Team). The Kings had gone through a ton of goalies over the past few seasons, so it was just a matter of time til someone good came along.
Right away, you could tell Quick was different. It was the beginning of the Kings building the core of the team that would go on to win 2 Stanley Cups (2012 & 2014).
I like collecting him because I know he’s one of the hardest current Kings to collect. He’s an amazing goalie and will go down in Kings history for what he’s accomplished. I know collecting his cards will only gain value over time at this point…. Not that id ever sell any!
What’s Your Favourite Card or Item(s)?
My favorite card would have to be the 2016-17 The Cup – Property 1/1. You just don’t see many cards with his sticks name stamp on it.
My favorite item would have to be the blocker I got of his. He used it during the 2012 season, when the Kings won their first cup. He only used it in practices, but I still like to think it helped win a cup!

What’s On Your Current Wantlist? Are there any ‘White Whales’ you’d like to add one day?
Right now, nothing specific. I’m always keeping an eye out for things I don’t have. These days I’m going more for cards that are very limited, 1 of 1s especially.
