This 52-card set of Swedish playing cards was developed by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.I’m no poker expert, but this deck of cards has me wanting to step up my game.
This ‘Fair Play & Respekt’ 52-card Playing Card set was developed by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association (Svenska Ishockeyförbundet) through the youth academy. It was primarily used as an educational tool in order to teach young hockey players, promote fair play, and grow the sport throughout Sweden. While there is another Fair Play & Respekt playing card set out there released in 2006, this update set was designed with a new selection of players. Based on a PDF document which had the 52-card checklist of players, this set could’ve been released as early as 2012 or sometime in between 2012-2015. If anyone has any confirmation on this, that would be appreciated. (update: I have found more evidence to support a 2012 release by looking into checklist images I found on a PDF file, which had originally been created in 2012. So I am going with this!
The deck of cards was provided directly through the federation as a physical set which was given away to coaches and/or players. In addition, this deck was digitally available through their website so they could be independently created by local teams, coaches and organizations (etc) to distribute decks of playing cards to their players, or whomever wanted these cards. So cool!
I found a PDF document of the fronts of the cards, and decided to have a test print of the full 52-card deck printed from a playing card for my collection for fun, which was a nice little project. Due to the push for a more digital-friendly release of these playing cards, this update set is much harder to find than the 2006 set in my limited experience, which would make sense, as the 2006 set was physically distributed at a greater scale it seems. Hoping I can track down an original for my Enroth card collection some day.
Update: As of November 2024,
I have tracked down an original card from this set! If you would like a list of the players in this updated Fair Play & Respekt Swedish playing card set, I have posted the checklist at the bottom of this article.
