It’s funny how one could go years without adding to a specific area of their collection and suddenly, within a month or two, add a handful of cards to fill some collection needs. Awesome!
2009-10 Upper Deck The Cup Rookie Masterpieces Collector’s Choice Magenta Printing Plate 1/1 of Jhonas EnrothThe first printing plate I acquired was from a collector on SportsCardForum. I knew they had this card for years, and we finally managed to make a deal for this printing plate earlier this month. The hobby is fun sometimes like that. Thanks for the collection help, Jeff!
2009-10 Upper Deck The Cup Rookie Masterpieces O-Pee-Chee Premier Black Autographed Printing Plate 1/1 Jhonas EnrothThe second printing plate I added was this O-Pee-Chee Premier Autographed Black plate. I acquired it via COMC and couldn’t be happier to add it to the collection. This is the 22nd rookie-year printing plate of Enroth from The Cup in my collection.
As an added bonus, I also managed to snag this 2007-08 SHL Elitset licensed autographed (produced by European card manufacturer, Card Cabinet) card from my recent COMC order as well. These don’t pop up too often anymore, so I figured it was time to finally add this card once more, even if it is my 2nd copy. I’ve always had a soft spot for European cards. I feel like they are more creative with the different colours used and overall unique card designs.
Uncirculated Copy – 2013 Panini Crown Royale Pacific’s Choice Award Ruby Autographs 29/199 of Jhonas Enroth.I picked this up a little while ago, but I also picked up this uncirculated copy of a 2013-14 Panini Crown Royale Pacific’s Choice Award Ruby Autograph, numbered 29/199. The difference between uncirculated cards and it’s circulated counterpart is just that: This card hasn’t been circulated or pulled from a pack and has come directly from the manufacturer, as identified with the Panini Customer Service toploader sealer seen above.
This was part of Panini’s recent redemption ‘dump’ they unloaded into the hobby. Some redemptions over 10 years old were finally being either replaced or fulfilled after all these years. I know some of these cards weren’t all public at the time of the product release, so I suspected more might have made their way into collector’s hands at some point.
While it is cool that Panini Hockey redemptions are making it’s way into the hands of collectors since Panini lost their NHL trading card licence the end of the 2013-14 season, it does make me wonder hockey much, if any, hockey cards exist in Panini’s warehouses. And if so….. what are they?
These are the things in the hobby I sometimes think about. Nerdy, but fun.
