2022-23 SP Game Used Upper Deck A Piece of History 40 Win Club – Jonathan Quick /99As 2023 winds down to a close, the last few cards keep flowing in. I guess the postal worker had some early Christmas gifts for me!
Since the checklist for 2022-23 Upper Deck SP Game Used, I have been eagerly anticipating an update to the A Piece Of History – Win Club set, and this year’s SPGU did not dissappoint with 5 new goalies to chase for my ongoing set.
Within this product, the new additions for the Win Club set included:
A-JQ Jonathan Quick – Los Angeles Kings (40 Win Club)
A-MB Martin Brodeur – New Jersey Devils (300 Win Club)
A-MF Marc-Andre Fleury – Minnesota Wild (300 Win Club)
A-SB Sergei Bobrovsky – Columbus Blue Jackets (40 Win Club)
A-TE Tony Esposito – Chicago Blackhawks (300 Win Club)
Each of these cards features the regular version /99, along with the parallel patch version numbered /25 or less. While I am excited to add more cards, I found it strange that Brodeur, Esposito, and Fleury would be re-added to this set for their 300-win milestones, seeing as they were included in the original 300 Win Club set. I wouldn’t have minded seeing Fleury included again under the 40-win milestone, but to have goalies included under the same milestone was kind of odd. I would have preferred them being re-added under a new category like 500 Win Club, or even a 600 Win Club milestone for Brodeur. I guess it was not to be, but maybe one of these years!
