Milestone Moments: The 70th Enroth 1/1 Card Enters The Collection

My 70th One Of One card for the Jhonas Enroth collection: A 2023 President’s Choice Trading Cards StickHandle 1/1 After a recent mail day, the 70th One Of One card for this collection has finally arrived – All thanks to Brian Price and the rest of the team over at President’s Choice Trading Cards.

They had recently revived their popular StickHandle set this summer, and this July they featured a new set of players to choose from. I have added quite a few President’s Choice Trading cards to my collection since they started allowing collectors to purchase their cards directly off their site on January 20th, 2017, so the chance to add another is always a fun experience.

For those who haven’t heard of this set, each card contains a game-used memorabilia piece featuring the players’ nameplate on the stick. A now classic concept I think will always be a hit with collectors of all types.

As far as this specific memorabilia piece goes, I wasn’t able to match it, but I have narrowed it down to being used in 2010. When looking at photos, it looks very similar to the nameplate stamping used on Enroth’s red accented Reebok Premier 3 sticks he used with the Buffalo Sabres around that time.

2023 President’s Choice StickHandle 1/1So there you have it – Another milestone checked off the list! Exciting, right?

Another key element of this addition to the collection is the deal that made this whole thing possible. A few days prior to these being released on the PCTC website, I made a deal to sell a 1/1 stick nameplate card I pulled from a recent KHL box break of former NHL player Andrej Sustr. This collector collected current and former Kunlun Red Star players and was interested in buying it for his collection. After a seamless deal, it was a win-win scenario for both of us.

Looking at my want list, there are still a ton of 1/1 cards still roaming around out there. How much more can be acumulated? Who knows, but that’s part of the fun about collecting these rare cards. You just never know when (or if) the next one is going to surface.

Happy Collecting,

Jhonas Enroth 2017 President’s Choice StickHandle 1/1

EDIT: I was recently reminded that this StickHandle 1/1 card joins the other StickHandle Nameplate card I have in my collection from 2017 when President’s Choice first burst on the scene. This unique piece of memorabilia with the partial nameplate removed (from a puck!), I was able to photo-match from the 2014-15 season with the Buffalo Sabres. This stick was used on October 9th, 2014 against the Columbus Blue Jackets in Buffalo’s Home opener. It was also likely used in practice as well before being retired.

I was also able to find a few photos of the stick fully intact before it was used to make these memorabilia cards. I have included those pictures below. Enjoy!
